The demise of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso 1 has attracted very important personalities to the Popoyemoja Palace of the late monarch.

One of those who came was the king of Fuji music and Mayegun of Yorubaland, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1).

The Fuji music impresario whose countenance showed that he was in a very sad mood described Oba Saliu Adetunji as his adopted father, who nurtured him from the tender age of 15 to prominence.

According to KWAM 1, “he meant so much, he meant so much to me, he nurtured me since I was a little boy, fifteen and I am 65 now, so, you can imagine if I am 65 years old and he nurtured since I was fifteen that mean he nurtured me for 50 good years.

Speaking about what he would miss about the late monarch and the legacy he left behind, Ayinde said there is no way one would not miss someone that nurtured him for 50 years.

He described the late Olubadan as a disciplined and very trustworthy man who did not for one time compromised what he stood for.

“I will miss everything, there is no way you will not miss someone that made you, for the past 50 years, I will miss a lot about him.

“The most important legacy in life is when you live a fulfilled life that you never compromised. He was a disciplined man to the core, he was a man that was truthful and honest in all his dealings in all his life.

“Kabiyesi Olubadan would never tell you what he would not do, he dealt with me for many years, he would tell me exactly what he would do and he would never tell me what he would not do,” King Wasiu Ayinde said.
