In order to reduce insecurity and youth unrest in Ibadan and his environs, the Chief Executive Officer of Kayrom Lee Group of Companies, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde has advocated the use of religious teachings to the youth in the state.

Ambassador Ayinde, who is also the National Matron of the Supreme Human Right Society, while addressing the congregation at the jumat prayer at Oja ‘Ba Central Mosque, Ibadan last Friday, said from what she can see in today’s society, the youth lack basic teaching of the religion of Islam which teaches morals and values and this has affected their behaviour in the society today.

“Until we pilot our youth back to the basic teachings of Islam through Koranic school that we as adult enjoyed when we are young, there is no way the issue of touting, menace of area boys and street urchin can be stopped in our society.

“If we say that it is none of our concern because they are not our children or wards, we are just delaying the evil days because when we don’t nip the menace in the bud now, it will come to a time that those area boys will eventually turn to criminals and they will become problematic for our children who we have raised to be God-fearing,” Ambassador Ayinde said.

Speaking further, Ambassador Ayinde, who is the founder of RACBAR Academy, a philanthropic foundation that grooms children in various sports and prepares them for the future, said what can be done to stop this future menace is to lead our youth into religion schools that will transform them to become respectable citizens.

On how this can be achieved, Ambassador Ayinde, however called on well-meaning people in the society to join force with her to revive the basic Koranic school in Ibadan to teach the youth the Islamic tenets, morals and values which are equality, justice, fairness, brotherhood, mercy, compassion, solidarity, and freedom of choice.

“As leaders, we are responsible for the application of these principles which is in the ethics and morals of Islam to the youth and are accountable to God and man for their administration.

“That is why I will like us to revive our Koranic schools in areas that don’t have and encourage our youth to join because some of them want to attend but there is no such school around.

“We can do this by looking for an established Koranic school and arrange for our youth who are interested to be attending and again we can look for a mosque in any area that can be used for the school while we will help them financially by arranging some money for the Arabic scholar in-charge and provide refreshment for the student.

“I want well-meaning people in the state to join me in achieving this goal because this will help the youth and our society in the future,” she said.
