Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles captain, Austin Okocha has heaped praises on Simon Moses, following his impressive performance against the Pharaohs on Tuesday.
The Nantes winger beat the Egyptian full backs easily and was involved in Kelechi Iheanacho’s winner for the Super Eagles in the AFCON Group D opener.
The former Levante winger didn’t just produced fine attacking display, he also provide defensive cover for his left back Zaidu Sanusi.
The player made way for Alex Iwobi towards the end of the game and Okocha who was speaking from his role as a TV pundit, picked him as the star of the game.
He said, “for me, Moses Simon is the man of the match. He tormented the defence line of the Pharaohs of Egypt.
“He was a menace. He brought out many crosses that would have led to goals. I think he caused a lot of havoc and he deserved the man of the match, anyway my opinion.”
Speaking on the team generally, Okocha hailed the performance for a job well done.
“This is the Super Eagles that we usually fight together, work together, that I saw today. It is not an easy match, but the Super Eagles won, beating the Pharaohs of Egypt, who have not lost sixteen matches. We need to give credit to the Super Eagles,” Austin Okocha concluded.
