Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration in Ekiti State has advised sellers of beef meat to ensure proper inspection of any living Cow purchased for people’s consumption.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and food Security, Mr. Olugbenga Odesanmi who was represented by the Director of veterinary services in the Ministry, Dr Emmanuel Osayomi gave the advice during a courtesy call to workers of the State Abattoir on the death of a Cow belonging to one of the butchers in Ado Ekiti.

The Permanent Secretary charged the State government to renovate and complete the needed facilities at the Abattoir which would assist the cattle market to generate revenue for the government.

Mr. Odesanmi condoned with the owner of the dead cow Mr Kazeem Alesinloye and asked God to compensate him on the huge loss.

The government Veterinary Doctor in charge of the Abattoir, Dr. Oluwatosin Olayeye said that dead cow had never been processed for people’s consumption.

Earlier, the owner of the dead cow, Mr Kazeem Alesinloye who said nothing was wrong with any of the two cows purchased last night expressed dismay on the death of one of the two cows.

He affirmed that it is against his Quranic injunction to eat dead animals let alone processed for people’s consumption.

The dead cow was however buried with CID chemical which would protect the carcass from polluting the environment.
