Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has congratulated Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (Ekiti Central) on his emergence as Senate Leader of the Tenth National Assembly.

He described the astute politician as a fit and proper person to occupy such an exalted position.

The governor also thanked President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and leadership of the National Assembly for the honour done to the Southwest and Ekiti State in particular with the choice of Senator Bamidele.

A statement by Oyebanji’s media aide, Yinka Oyebode, said he was confident Senator Bamidele would discharge his duties as Senate leader effectively and bring additional value to the legislative and oversight functions of the upper legislative chamber, as well as the good governance agenda of President Tinubu’s administration.

According to the Governor, Senator Bamidele is prepared for the national assignment, ‘giving his sound education, intellectual disposition, amiable personality and political sagacity, as well as the public service and legislative experiences he had gathered over the years as a three-time commissioner in Lagos State, member of the House of Representatives and two-time member of the upper legislative House.

Governor Oyebanji described Senate Bamidele as a ‘dear brother and friend’, and urged him to utilise his new position to build harmonious working relationship with various tendencies in the National Assembly, and between the Legislative and Executive arms of government, in the overall interest of the country.

The statement reads: “I congratulate my dear brother and friend, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) on his emergence as the Senate Leader. This is indeed a call to serve and a recognition of his sterling leadership qualities as a seasoned administrator, a committed democrat and an avowed believer in the Nigeria Project.

“We are grateful to President Bola Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly, and the national leadership of our great party, APC, for this honour done to the Southwest and Ekiti State. Senator Bamidele is a man of immense capacity who has built an excellent public service record over the years. He is a fit and proper person for the position and I am sure he will discharge his duties responsibly in the overall interest of the country.”
