A member, representing Ibadan South West state constituency one in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi will on Children’s Day host the children within his constituency.
The spokesperson to the lawmaker, Prince Tope Eluyefa, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
The programme, according to Eluyefa, is expected to be a fun-filled and carnival-like event and will feature different and so many entertaining and educating programmes such as quiz competition, cultural display and games for playmates and pupils.
Hon. Adebisi, who is organizing the event, first of its kind in the constituency, said that the programme will serve as an opportunity to celebrate with the children on the occasion of their day, May 27 Children’s Day.
It will serve as a prospect to talk and share with them about life generally, and expose their minds to so many opportunities, as well as to sensitize them on the dangers associated with keeping bad friends and engaging in immoral activities, especially hard drugs.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Sports in the state House of Assembly also disclosed that the event will serve as an opportunity to give back to the society through the children, who are the future of Nigeria.
He maintained that there are going to be lots of gifts for the children on the day, particularly education scholarships for the best pupils in quiz competitions and some other outlined events.
Hon. Adebisi said that the constituency is going to receive prominent personalities, who are going to serve as role models for the children including the state’s First Lady, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, Chairman, Oyo State Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran, the state Commissioner of Police, Hamzat Adebola, Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) and the state Comptroller of Nigeria Correctional Service, who will be encouraging and sensitizing the children on importance of morality and dangers associated with addiction to narcotic.
Also expected at the event according to the lawmaker are the party’s executives across the state, local and wards in the council area.
