The literary community is in mourning following the passing of Emeritus Professor Ayo Banjo, a revered figure in academia and literature.

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW Global) has expressed profound sadness over the loss of Professor Banjo, who served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan and made significant contributions to the field of English language and literature.

According to the Statement, “Professor Ayo Banjo’s passing comes just 22 days after celebrating his 90th birthday, marking the end of an era for Nigerian literature and education. Prof. Banjo’s influence extended far beyond the confines of the university, touching the lives of countless students, scholars, and writers across the nation.”

“As an Emeritus Professor of English Language, Prof. Ayo Banjo leaves behind a rich and enduring legacy.
