Nigeria Premier Football League clubs media directors and sports journalists have been encouraged to be intentional in rebranding and promoting the NPFL in media spaces in order to attract more fans and prospective investors into the nation’s top flight football.
Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Prince Davidson Owumi, said as much during the inaugural edition of NPFL media directors seminar in Makurdi, Benue state.
Owumi acknowledged that club media directors are critical stakeholders with an important role to play in the running of any successful football league in the country, and emphasized the need for NPFL clubs to leverage on the different social media platforms in promoting and marketing the NPFL brand to the world.
He said: “It is true that we cannot achieve much in football business without effective media branding, coverage, reportage and promotions. The NPFL is our biggest brand and as such we have a duty to package this product and market it to the world.
“The Nigeria Premier Football League cannot exist without the clubs and as you are working to promote and rebrand your respective clubs, you have to be intentional about presenting the NPFL as the bride of our country’s club football.
“At club level, there are lots of activities both on and off the pitch and we encourage you to create captivating contents from those activities in form of stories, short videos, pictures and graphics that will generate positive conversation about the league”
He further called on management of NPFL clubs to ensure their respective media departments are well equipped to enhance effective service delivery.
