Actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has revealed a serious health battle that required her to spend up to ₦800,000 monthly on medication.
Speaking during an interview on African A List, the actress said the financial pressure of her treatment was overwhelming.
However, she received support from individuals including APC chieftain, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, and some colleagues in the movie industry.
“Thanks to MC Oluomo and my colleagues who kept me alive today. Do you know what it means for someone to buy drugs worth ₦800,000 every month?” she said.
Oshodi-Oke also recalled how actress Sotayo Gaga sent her ₦150,000 after hearing about her illness, despite the two not having spoken for about five to six years following a minor disagreement.
“The last time Sotayo and I spoke was six years ago. But when she heard that I fell sick, she sent me ₦150,000. If we meet at a party, we bypass each other without greeting,” she said.
The actress further disclosed that her experience during the health challenge led her to join the Celestial Church of Christ.
“It was when I was terribly sick that I joined Cele. As for me, I don’t condemn other religions,” she added.
