Staffers of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism have been charged to rededicate themselves to duty, making honesty and transparency their watchword in the discharge of their duties in order to ensure survival of the Civil Service.
The Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism in Ekiti State, Professor Rasak Ojo Bakare gave the charge during a meeting he had with members of the Senior Staff of the Ministry.
The Commissioner, who said the meeting became necessary at the point in time, stated that it was obvious that the sector had been underutilized in the past with the attendant effect of merging or been reduced from being a full-fledged Ministry by successive administration.
He added that he has taken enough time to understudy the structures of the establishment which according to him was defective, hence the need to put up a structure that would ensure efficiency, effectiveness and professionalism for optimal service delivery.
In the new arrangement which he observed was done with utmost good faith and consideration to pedigree, expertize and academic background, Ojo Bakare assigned Mr. Banji Adelusi, the erstwhile Director of Culture, the duty of coordinating the activities of the Tourism Development Agency, while Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lare retains his position as the Director General of the erstwhile Council for Arts and Culture with some of the directors swapping positions, all in a bid to ensure all round success in the new dispensation.
Bakare, who noted that the Dr. Kayode Fayemi-led administration was keenly interested in harnessing all the various potentials in the
Tourism, Arts and Cultural Sector across the state for its over-all development, maintained that the development was borne out of his genuine intention to uplift the Ministry from its dormant and seemingly irrelevant state to its rightful position among the comity of Ministries and in the scheme of things as regards Tourism, Arts and Culture Industry across the globe.
In his submissions, the Director General of the Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre, said the appointment of Professor Rasak Ojo Bakare as the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture at this time was a step in the right direction, adding that the academic guru has come to add value to the whole process and compliment the commitment of the present administration in the Tourism, Arts and Cultural Sector.
