Kind-hearted Nigerians have been urged to rise to support the daughter of a carpenter who needs a whopping N15milion to finance a correctional hole-in-the-heart surgery.
The case of 6-year-old Anuoluwapo, daughter of Moses Joshua, was brought to the notice of a reporter with The Nation recently.
The father, looking distraught and frustrated, had waited patiently for hours to be attended to at The Nation’s office security posts, insisting he was ready to wait the whole day, if need be, as he had nowhere else to turn.
“I am here to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to help save my beloved daughter, Anuoluwapo. She has been diagnosed with congenital heart disease otherwise known as ‘hole-in-the-heart’ and doctors say we would need N15million for surgery to correct it in India. Besides, she also has a big hole at the back of her mouth, which also needs correcting. Even as I speak, I have spent all the money I have and do not know where else to turn to. This is why I decided to come to a national newspaper like The Nation, to reach out to kind-hearted Nigerians. Please, I do not want my daughter to die,” Joshua lamented.
A letter from The office of The Head, Medical Records, Lagos University Teaching Hospital and titled: Re: Please Help Save 6 Years Old Daughter With Holes In Her Heart LUTH Hospital Number 679361, read in part:
“Following a series of tests by these consultants, we concluded that the young girl suffers from CYANOTIC CONGENITAL HEART DISEASES. Paediatric Electrocadiography done on 5th January, 2017 reported “a large defect in the upper septum suggestive of Tetralogy of Fallot” as attached…
I have confirmed that Anuoluwapo would require URGENT HEART SURGERY in INDIA, which would cost FIFTEEN MILION NAIRA (N15,000,000.00)…”
The letter was signed by Dr. O. J. Sokunbi.
Well-meaning Nigerians who wish to reach out to Anuoluwapo can do so through this account: Anuoluwapo Moses, First Bank: 3172321375. Her father, Joshua, can be reached on 08024576529.
