The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Commissioner in charge of Oyo and Ogun States, Barrister Adeoluwa Faustina has lauded the efforts of the National Anti-Corruption Volunteer Corps (NAVC) for complementing the commission’s efforts in fighting war against corruption.

Barrister Adeoluwa gave the commendation during the inauguration of the Oyo State executive of NAVC held recently at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, in Ibadan.

She expressed that over the time, the fight against corruption has been a monumental task and it has not been easy for ICPC alone to fight the war. She added that this is why the need for collaborative effort is required from the volunteer corps to join in the campaign against corruption.

Barrister Adeoluwa enjoined all NAVC members to demonstrate higher degree of commitment and dedication to reform the country with the aim of ensuring corruption free Nigeria. She urged them to see this movement as a sacrificial movement and not to be tempted or compromised for any reason.

In his goodwill message, Founder and Spiritual Head of Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke, who was represented by Usthas Ibrahim Adediran disclosed that rebranding of Nigeria must be built upon the structure of patriotism and integrity, objectivity, truth, love and hard work to bail out Nigeria into system of zero tolerance to corruption by all stakeholders including the common man.

The Muslim cleric noted that corruption is a strong foundation to system impoverishment, untimely death of people and under-development in an environment of impunity by few unpatriotic individuals, adding that it can be controlled if the country has functional democracy, religion, education and cultural systems.

He, however, called on citizens to track government spendings and projects, sensitize others on corruption, demand accountability, reject, resist and report corruption cases, be law abiding as well as detest corruption, detect fraud and detest corrupt persons to ensure better society.

Meanwhile, Prince Remi Adeyemo, Comrade Bimbo Adekoya, Hon. Adeyemo Adeyemi, Adekunle Timothy, Ajiboye Rasaq, Rev. (Dr.) Benjamin Oluwa and Comrade Kemi Abolade as the state Coordinator, Deputy Coordinator, Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Welfare Officer respectively, have been inaugurated as the Oyo State executive that will run the affairs of the group for the next two years.
