The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, has commended the people of Moba Local Government Area of the state for trooping out for the voters’ registration exercise which commenced on Thursday.

According to a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, the Speaker, who had called a meeting of all political office holders and stakeholders in the local government on Wednesday, expressed satisfaction over the impressive turn-out of eligible voters for the exercise, admonishing those who were yet to be registered to seize the opportunity of the remaining days to do so.

Oluwawole had, on Wednesday, convened a meeting of all political officeholders and party stakeholders in all the 11 wards of the local government to sensitize them on the need to mobilize eligible voters for the registration exercise.

“When I called the meeting of relevant stakeholders, including party executives in all the 11 wards of the local government, commissioners, special advisers, councilors etc., I was thinking of how we were going to have a colourful outing at the exercise. And I was not disappointed.

“I, therefore, appreciate the good people of Moba for the highly impressive turn-out at the exercise. We all know that it is not enough to support the Ayo Fayose-led administration in the state. Our voter card is the only weapon with which we can install a government of our choice.

“That is why I am imploring those who are yet to register to do so promptly. We commend the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the seamless exercise. The only problem we had was inadequate machines and we believe that subsequently, that will be taken care of,” he said.

The Speaker also noted that residents of the local government, particularly those within the age bracket of 18 to 21, should take advantage of the exercise to get their own voter cards, adding that in doing so, they would be guaranteeing a good future for themselves.

He stated further that; “those who had changed locations, had defaced voter cards or one way or the other had lost theirs should also come out during the remaining days of the exercise to get a replacement.”
