Alhaji Fatai Diekola...at logger heads with Aregbesola?

Two Magistrate Courts sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital on Monday rejected the trial of a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Fatai Diekola and five others who were alleged to have been disturbing public peace.

It was a mild drama when Diekola was brought to the court when the Magistrate 2 where his case was assigned immediately reassigned the case to Magistrate 3.

Diekola was taken to court alongside five people by the state police headquarter on Monday afternoon after they went to the police on invitation.

He was said to have been invited by the police for alleged breach of public peace but couldn’t appear due to the status of his health.

It was gathered that Diekola, who was said to have been in hospital for about three weeks, went to the police around 12 pm and was detained and was charged to court around 3 pm.

Alhaji Fatai Diekola used to be one of the closest political associates of Governor Rauf Aregbesola when the relationship blossomed.

Meanwhile, Osun state government has warned the people of the state to desist from act  capable of causing commotion or crisis in the state.

The government in a statement signed by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lani Baderinwa condemned the “lawless action of an unscrupulous individual in the early part of today whereby he attempted to disturb the public peace to which the police promptly responded and curbed the marauders actions.

“It is the view of the government that no individual, including politician of whatever hue, has the right to cause commotion in the public because such is against the rule of law. As a government that believes and acts in accordance with the rule of law, the actions of the police in preventing breakdown of law and order are well supported and a welcome development.”

The government then called on all security agencies to be more alert and ensure that no individual disrupts the hard earned peace which government has been working very hard to sustain.

The statement also urged the people of the state to continue to be law abiding and carry out their lawful duties without fear of any molestations as well as called on parents not to allow their wards to be used by trouble makers who thrive in such anti-social behaviours.
