Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly,  has said that the entire nation stands to gain a lot by emulating the way the State governor, Ayodele Fayose relates with teachers.

The assertion is contained in a congratulatory message he sent to teachers all over the country, particularly in Ekiti State on the occasion of this year’s World Teachers’ Day.

In the message signed by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, Oluwawole eulogized Ekiti teachers, in particular, for not failing to live up to the expectations of the government and all stakeholders in the educational sector.

“The zeal with which the Fayose-led government has approached the development of education in Ekiti State is worthy of emulation in the whole of this country. The nation’s education sector is comatose. We need this kind of dedication to turn things around in this sector that is the hope of our future leaders. Training and retraining of teachers at all levels, provision of enabling teaching environment as well as rewarding diligence cum hard work are what have worked for Ekiti.

“Governor Fayose has always maintained that any government that wants to succeed in the education sector ought to take the welfare of teachers as priority. And this appears to be the magic wand. That is our testimony in Ekiti State in the last two years.

“As these teachers celebrate today (Thursday), it is my fervent wish that governments at all levels design special means of celebrating and encouraging teachers at all levels of education to boost competence and competition. The reward of teacher should begin from this planet earth,” the lawmaker said.

He also congratulated parents, students, the state deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola; the Commissioner for Education, Mr Jide Egunjobi; and all the education team of Governor Fayose, as well as leaders of thought who took part in the state’s education summit for “etching our names in gold at this particular point in our history.”

Oluwawole further said; “I am very elated to rejoice with our teachers on this new occasion of World Teachers’ Day. You deserve to be the best-celebrated set of teachers in the world, even though it is all your colleagues across the globe that we celebrate today.

“You have proved to be dependable. You did not fall short of the expectations of the encouragements by the state governments as well as all the stakeholders in our education sector. I pray to the Almighty God to preserve you all to witness many more of this day. I have the strong belief in you that you will continue to justify Mr Governor’s laudable investment in your profession.
