Oyo House Moves To Regulate Reproductive Health & Maternity Service In The State

The Oyo State House of Assembly has commenced moves to regulate reproductive health and Maternity Service in the state.

This indication emerged Wednesday when the bill seeking to regulate the Oyo State Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Maternity Service 2017 was read for the first time during the plenary.

The bill which was co-sponsored by eight Lawmakers, was aimed at providing for the regulation of Family Planning, Reproductive Health & Safe Maternity Services in Oyo State and for other connected purposes.

Under the matter of urgent public importance, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Kehinde Subair presented a motion on the need to normalize the abnormality in the demand for tax clearance and variation in the collection of fees from parents and guardians by public secondary schools in the State.

He urged the House to direct the Committee on Education to invite the Ministry of Education to explain the modalities and guidelines for the demand of tax clearance and payment of school fees and other fees from parents in public schools across the State.

The motion was directed to the House Committee on Education for appropriate action.

Similarly, another motion was presented by Hon. Olukayode Akande representing Ogbomosho state Constituency on the need to install the abandoned transformers in some parts of the State.

He urged the House to take proactive steps on the installation of the abandoned transformers procured by the state government.

In their separate contributions to the motion, the Speaker, Hon. Michael Adesina Adeyemo and other lawmakers expressed concerns on the attitude of the people towards public and government property.

The House in its resolve directed the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters to work with rural electrification board to find lasting solutions to the problem and report back to the House within three weeks.

The House equally received the reports of the joint Committee on Security & Strategy and that of Education, Science & Technology on their interaction with security agents, Ministry of Education and other stakeholders on how to beef up security at the School of Science, Pade in Akinyele Local Government area.

The report was presented by Hon Gbenga Oyekola representing Atiba State constituency and the Chairman Committee on Security & Strategy.

The House has adjourned its sitting till Tuesday 21st November, 2017.
