A former Chairman of Odua Investment Company and ex-Secretary to Oyo State Government, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has announced his interest in contesting for the governorship seat of the state under the umbrella of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2019.

The lawyer-turned-politician made this formal announcement while featuring on a Space FM Ibadan radio programme on Tuesday.

The programme which was monitored by PMParrot also saw the erudite Ibadanman commenting on other salient issues on politics and governance.

Specifically on the ding-dong affair within the PDP in Oyo State, Alli had this to say: “There’s nothing like factions in PDP in Oyo state. The purported harmonisation was an attempt but didn’t see the light of the day. With this,PDP is determined to take over the government in the State by God’s grace in 2019.

He also took time to speak on the security situation in Nigeria saying that “the Security situation in Nigeria is nothing to write home about. Dapchi students kidnapped in Yobe State by insurgents clearly shows the situation  in the country as far as security is concerned is not reliable.

On the fast approaching Local Government election in Oyo State, Alli submitted that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commision, OYSIEC is not independent at all.

His words “OYSIEC of today is more or less  an APC institution because most of the commission members and appointed local govt electoral officers are card carrying members of the ruling party”.

Sharafadeen Alli became popular as a politician when at the age of 28 he became the first Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area. At age 35, he was a Senator-Elect and at 40, he became the SSG of Oyo State.
