Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), the Ooni of Ile Ife, Thursday laid to rest growing speculations of a seeming rift between him and the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, saying he had no misgiving with the latter against the belief in some quarters.

This is just as he presided over the meeting of Osun State Traditional Rulers Council meeting, which was held inside his palace, located within Ile Oodua, Ile-Ife.

At the parley, which was attended by prominent monarchs in the state, including Oluwo, Oba Ogunwusi also declared that the paramount ruler (Oba Akanbi) had not been prevented from partaking in the meeting of the council of traditional rulers in Osun.

It was gathered that Oluwo, who was given the staff of office after undergoing coronation rites in 2015 had not attended the meeting of Osun Council of Obas since his ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

However, the Ooni, who arrived the venue of the meeting with his retinue of aides went round the hall to exchange pleasantries with all the monarchs, just as he tasked them to exhibit dignity and royalty as part of the means of protecting the traditional institution in Yorubaland.

Addressing the cross-section of Obas during the meeting, Oba Ogunwusi explained that “it’s been long since we held this meeting. The meeting is usually held on a monthly basis. This is not the time to point accusing fingers at anybody”.

He continued, “the Timi of Ede came to me and told me that he would not be here because he was travelling out and that he had scheduled the trip before the meeting was called. So, also the Orangun of Ila. I greet Oluwo especially. Unity and development of our state are very important”.

“Some traditional rulers have joined their ancestors since our last meeting. They include Olubosin of Ifetedo, Salu of Edunabon and Olulamokun of Yakoyo. We should portray ourselves the way we should. We should carry ourselves with dignity and royalty. We should unite and stand as one. Our meeting is how to bring about development to our state and the nation”.

“I greet Oluwo especially, being his first time coming here. Nobody is asking you not to come here. This is your house”, Oba Ogunwusi remarked.

In his remark, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi emphasised that peace and harmonious relationship among traditional rulers were germane to engender cohesion, unity and healthy growth of not only Osun State but also the entire country.

Meanwhile, a 9-man welfare committee, chaired by Oluwo has been constituted by the Osun State Traditional Rulers Council, saddled with the responsibility of ensuring adequate welfare for the monarchs

Some of the monarchs at the meeting included among others, the Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, Elerinmo of Erinmo, Oba Michael Ajayi, Alaagba of Aagba, Oba Rufus Ogunwole, Owamiran of Esa Oke, Olunisa of Inisa, Olufon of Ifon, Oloba of Oba-Ile, Alie of Ilie, Owamiran of Esa Oke, Olororuwo of Ororuwo, Ademula of Ifewara, Oluresi of Iresi, Aragberi of Iragberi.
