Prominent chieftains of the African Democratic Congress(ADC) in Oyo State have denied the existence of any splinter group in the party, saying such was from the imagination of mischief makers.

They told newsmen on Sunday in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State during their respective general meetings.

PMParrot gathered that the meeting held at Iseyin and Okeho area of the state was to herald the party’s membership registration.

Hon Abass Olopoeniyan, a former House of Representatives member from the zone, stated that the ADC remains one and such speculations should be disregarded.

“ADC has been registered since 2006 but not functioning well. We have scrutinized the manifesto and found it as a veritable platform to embrace.

“There is only one ADC. We just started the registration process and will be commencing our congresses from the ward on August 18. The local government and state congresses would hold on August 25 and 28 respectively,” he said.

Olopoeniyan, who represented Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency from 2007 to 2011, said the ADC was a conglomeration of progressive-minded people from the various political parties.

Rep. Abiodun Olasupo(ADC-Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa) said ADC was a party that has come to stay in Oyo State, saying the party would grow beyond the imagination of rumour mongers.

“Where is the splinter group? How can a party we are just planting have splinter group when it has not even conducted its congresses? Those spreading such speculations are seeking unnecessary political relevance.

“We can only have splinter groups if there are crisis from our congresses and we are yet to have such. ADC is one. This party we are planting will by the grace of God and support of people grow beyond the imagination of antagonists,” he said.

Olasupo said that disagreement was bound in every human arrangement, adding such arrangement would get the best only if the majority have their way and minority their say.

Similarly, Alhaji Saheed Alaran, a former Iseyin Local Government boss, said there was no crack in the party as been speculated.

Alaran stated that there was no way a growing political party could do without such speculations being sponsored by mischievous and jittery opponents.

“The growing strength of ADC by the day will no doubt be unpleasant to our opponents. Intelligence report has confirmed that those claiming new ADC were sponsored by mischief makers to create crack in the party.

“We can’t do without political intrigues. I know those spreading such rumour are out there to seek political attention. As far as we are concerned, the cohesion in ADC is intact and solid,” he said.

He stated that diversity was legitimate and it must be done with purpose, adding that God Almighty who created all could confirm it.
