As part of the manifesto of All Progressives Congress (APC), which is distribution of dividends of democracy to the people, the Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo, and the Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari on Friday collaborated to give back to their constituents.
The historic event took place on the premises of Itesiwaju LG Secretariat in Otu.
Among the items distributed to over 200 constituents are sewing machines, grinding machines, motorbikes, mobile phones, deep freezers, generators, knapsack sprayers and bags of Sodium and Chloride (NaCl) salt for cattle feeds. Also, selected widows across the council area were given cash donations.
In his speech, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo said his administration is constantly dedicated to bringing government closer to the people by making life easier for them. He explained that the items given were based on the identified need gaps to boost the beneficiaries’ economic productivity as well as creation of wealth.
The council boss pleaded with the non-beneficiaries to exercise patience and wait for subsequent ones; in his words, “Also, those who are at this time not given the opportunity to partake in this programme will benefit in our subsequent ones. Let me also use this opportunity to let the masses know that we have other masses-oriented programmes still lined up”.
Adeagbo showered praises on Governor Abiola Ajimobi for giving him the opportunity to serve his people at the grassroots and promises to always be at his best. Also, he lauded Senator Buhari for his qualitative representation of the district, amazing constituency projects, empowerment initiatives and support for Itesiwaju local administration.
Speaking at the event, Senator Buhari said the Give-Back Programme is in fulfillment of his campaign promises to the people of his Senatorial District. He commended Hon. Adeagbo for his collaborative concept.
The chief host of the event and chairman of APC in Itesiwaju LG, Alhaji Dhikrullah Osuolale, in his address stated that the duo of Senator Buhari and the Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo, have not disappointed the people. He added that the joint event was unprecedented in Nigeria.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Kamorudeen Adekoje expressed his happiness to Hon. Niyi Adeagbo-led local government administration and the Distinguished Senator Abdulfatai Buhari that deemed it fit that such opportunity gets to him and other beneficiaries irrespective of political affiliations.
Another beneficiary, Mrs Opoola Bose also appreciated the kind gesture. In her words, “My appreciation goes to the Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju LG, Hon. Niyi Adeagbo and our Senator in Oyo North, Dr. Buhari for their collaborative give back concept in which some of us are beneficiaries. May God continue to bless them”.
Among those present were Executive Chairmen of LGAs, former Special Assistant to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, elders and leaders of APC Itesiwaju LG and leaders of professional groups.
