In order not to allow African medicine (herbal therapy) to go into extinction, traditional rulers in Nigeria, especially in the South Western part of the country, have been called to use their respected positions to propagate and change the mentality and ideology of the people towards the efficacy and potency of local medications.
The Chief Executive Officer of Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy, Babatunde Badmus specifically called on the Alaafin of Oyo, the Ooni of Ife, the Alake of Egba and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, as well as other prominent Obas in Yoruba land to appeal to their governors to incorporate herbal therapy into the health system of their various states.
He made the call while speaking with Parrot Xtra state’s correspondent at his Asiwaju Elegboogi’s head office located beside Fat Oil, Sango, Ibadan recently.
The young entrepreneur expressed that if traditional rulers, who are the custodians of culture and tradition can champion promotion and patronage of local medicines the way they champion Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, Oramiyan Festival in Oyo, Egungun Festival in Ibadan and other cultural festivals across Yoruba land, there will be synergy between orthodox doctors and trado-medical doctors and will bring benefit and improvement to the country’s health sector.
According to Asiwaju Badmus, “the traditional rulers are at the frontline to embrace herbal therapy, propagate and preach it as custodians of culture and tradition to the government to incorporate it into the primary health care to improve health system in the country.”
The Chairman of Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy lamented that the country has lost lots of herbal therapists who had sound knowledge of herbs and its application to treat people on different kinds of ailments but have died with their knowledge without recognition. He also disclosed that he has successfully treated eminent Nigerians who were suffering from diabetes and other ailments all over the country.
He urged the government to set up a research team for the purpose of identifying people with sound knowledge of herbs and its application that will work hand-in-hand with orthodox doctors to provide quality healthcare delivery in the country.
Speaking about the unique selling point of his Asiwaju Elegboogi’s brand, the former University of Ibadan Students’ Union Government President, disclosed that his mission in the herbal business is to bridge the gap between modern and traditional medicine, using the combination of information resulting from in-depth research on both to bring healing and relief to Nigerians especially.
“We are not just roadside herbal sellers, we are unique because we are educated, we have all our products subjected to laboratory analysis and we get toxicology reports on every herb we combine. We have a serene environment where our machines are housed and our products are produced. We integrate the orthodox and science into what we do and because of our exposure; we have a vision on how we can improve herbal therapy beyond the landscape of Africa.”
Asiwaju Badmus, a theater artist turned herbal therapy expert, disclosed that his passion to save lives from life-threatening diseases such as diabetes, fibroid, high blood pressure, fallopian tube blockage, insomnia, asthma, peptic ulcer and arthritis among others informed his decision to venture into herbal therapy business.
He revealed that his mission to take herbal therapy to the next level has already yielded positive results because in less than two years in the herbal medicine industry, the success story of Asiwaju Elegboogi is a good testimony that herbal therapy is adding value to the lives of the people.
Asiwaju Badmus used the opportunity to announce the Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy’s free diabetes treatment for 100 people.
He urged interested diabetic patients to take the advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a free health initiative which will last three months by picking up their forms at the company’s head office at Sango, Ibadan.
