Bishop (Dr) David Ademola Moradeyo, the Chairman, Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Christian Wing) has asked Nigerians not to fret about the current challenges facing the country stating that year 2022 will be a year of resounding restoration and joy for them.

He further stated that Nigeria is faced with myriads of problems ranging from corruption, injustice, lawlessness because of lack of love and genuine concern for one another.

He said, “We are facing different challenges as a nation because we do not love one another and God. The mineral resources in Nigeria are capable of feeding the entire nation because we are richer than many African countries.

“Our major problem lies in the fact that we fail to follow the instructions of God that we should love our neighbor as ourselves and that is why corruption is increasing daily in Nigeria. If we tackle the menace of corruption, Nigeria will blossom very well”.

Speaking on the role of men of God in politics, “We should not leave the act of politics to people who do not believe in God.  We have heard in time past from various teachings that devoted Christians and Muslims should not join politics and that is affecting us as a nation.

Continuing, Bishop Moradeyo said “clerics, elders and deacons of integrity should lead and take bold steps to join politics and show good examples for others to follow”.

Reacting to the debate on the issue that public office holder should be sworn in by traditional means rather than the Holy Books “It is God that can judge a man, swearing of oaths is between a man and God and it is a matter of personal decision.

“Our concern should be on how public office holders uphold the oath they swear and not by the means by which it was done”.

He, however, warned corrupt politicians to tread carefully as stealing public funds always results in grave consequences for the individual and their generations while revealing that the love of money has resulted in the sudden death of many prominent individuals.

The Engineer turned Cleric further stated that trusting God and living a contented life is the key to living an enduring and satisfying life while revealing that God is the only trusted refuge and help that can be trusted.

Speaking on the activities of the pilgrims board in year 2022, “Both the Christian and Muslim boards throughout the nation are currently facing the same challenges as a result of the restrictions placed on travelling by COVID-19.

“Now, Israel has opened its borders, and the state government has approved the procedures for intending pilgrims to travel to Jerusalem”

The Bishop further commended the governor of Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde for his mandate in promoting masses’ agenda and in alleviating the suffering of the people of the state.

He stated that the level of infrastructural development in the state is quite commendable as the residents of the state are enjoying the dividends of democracy.

The Chairman of the Christians’ pilgrims’ board in the state further submitted that he was re-appointed into the office after serving in the same capacity during the tenure of Senator Abiola Ajimobi because of his experience and being a respected technocrat.

He then went ahead to strongly admonish politicians and all Nigerians to return to God and love one another while urging politicians specifically to fulfill their campaign promises to the electorate stating that the glamour of public office is only for a short time.
