The gubernatorial candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin has been strongly admonished to take urgent steps to inclusively reconcile with the party’s stakeholders in the state if he indeed wants to achieve victory during next year’s election.

Barrister Akeem Agbaje, one of the gubernatorial aspirants that lost the ticket to the present flagbearer gave the admonition while featuring on a live radio show, ‘Oro to’nlo’ anchored by Dr Kola Ladoke on Splash 105.5fm and broadcast from Ibadan, the capital city of the state on Tuesday.

According to the highly successful legal practitioner, Senator Folarin needs to really identify the party’s stakeholders in the state and start to make sincere efforts to reconcile all.

His words “Most of us are not happy with the way the gubernatorial primary was carried out. There was no doubt that it was snatched (jagba). It was absolutely very obvious. But then, I really do not have much problem with that because almost all the other aspirants were out to do the same thing.

“As for me, I am in politics not only to contest. I know the ticket is only for one person but it must be acquired through free and fair means. I am a game player and I am a patient person too.

“Some people are used to the culture of ‘jagba’. That is their approach towards life. I was not brought up with that kind of culture.

“Those of us complaining about the gubernatorial primary are not aggrieved. We are stakeholders. We participated in the building and sustenance of the party. We need to be carried along sincerely. Our flag bearer is not taking any serious step in this direction. Going to people’s houses is not what we are talking about.

“I am, however, optimistic that he will do the needful because I believe he still has the time. But if he allows things to degenerate, it will amount to self-inflicted injury.”

When asked to comment on the state of the Nigerian economy, Agbaje said “Nigeria’s problem is that both the government and the citizens have done away with truthfulness. The country needs all of us to face reality and be truthful at all times.”
