Why We Are Planning To Give Scholarships To Indian Students – Lead City University

The Vice Chancellor, Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Kabiru Adeyemo, has disclosed that the university is ready to collaborate with the government of India, by giving scholarships to prospective students from India to come study at the institution.

Adeyemo made the disclosure at the first public lecture of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Lead City University, which held at the International Conference Centre of the institution.

The lecture was chaired by the Consul General of India in Nigeria, Chandramouli Kumar Kern, and it was titled: “Setting Development Agenda for a New Nigeria: International Technology Transfer and Foreign Policy as Instrument”.

The VC said Lead City University believed that engineering and technology were catalyst for growth, and expressed the hope for a partnership in the area of technology transfer between Indian institutions and Lead City University.

“The university is ready to collaborate with the Indian government and give scholarships to prospective students from Indian to come and pursue their academic career in Lead City University.

“We firmly believe that engineering and technology are catalyst for growth and progress, and this public lecture serves as a platform to explore how international collaboration and strategic foreign policy can accelerate Nigeria’s journey towards becoming a global technological powerhouse.

“It is hoped that this event will signal a new partnership through intellectual technology transfer between Indian technological institutions and Lead City University,” Adeyemo said.

In his address, the Indian envoy said, “Indian academic institutions and research organisations collaborate with their international counterparts on various research projects. Through these collaborations and academic exchanges, transfer occurs as researchers share knowledge, expertise, and scientific advancements.

“We discussed with the vice chancellor, and it would be about student exchange programme, they also talked about telemedicine, so I have advised them to make a proposal.”

A former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Prof. Bola Akinterinwa, who was the guest lecturer, said Nigeria must take advantage of technology to address its challenges in order not to lag behind in today’s world driven, especially, by Information and Communications Technology.
