Detectives have arrested Mr. Moses Mba, 50 and his 40-year-old wife, Florence, over market square fight in Ogun State, which allegedly led to injuries to 45-year-old Mark Kalu and subsequent death.
It was gathered that the deceased sustained injuries during the fight between him and the couple on October 8, 2023, at Osiele market square in Odeda Local Government.
Although attempts were made by the Babaloja of Osiele and the Igbo community leader to mediate and find a peaceful resolution without success, however, the Divisional Police Officer in Odeda received a report that Kalu died on January 6 at about 7am allegedly from injuries inflicted on him during the fight. Police spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Omolola Odutola, who confirmed this in a statement, said the couple had been taken into custody to facilitate preliminary investigation into the incident.
According to Odutola, the remains of Kalu have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta for autopsy.
