The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Ministry of Education, Mr Mike Omolayo has charged Principals of public secondary schools in the State to take proactive steps towards achieving 100% success of their Students in public examinations this academic session.
Omolayo gave the charge in Ado-Ekiti during the official flag-off of the distribution of teaching and learning materials to the 202 public secondary schools in the State
The PS stressed that the present administration in the State had invested so much in the education sector, adding that the only way to reciprocate government’s gesture was for the principals to ensure that their students come out in flying colours in all public examinations without resorting to examination malpractices.
According to the Permanent Secretary, all public schools in the State have undergone infrastructural transformation and have witnessed capacity building of key personnel within the last 2 years courtesy of the present Administration and the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE).
He called on the principals to monitor their staff closely and also lead them by laying good examples.
While admonishing the school administrators to cultivate the culture of good relationship with their subordinates, Omolayo warned them against running foul of extant rules of the public service particularly by eschewing examination malpractices and collection of illegal fees .
In his goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary Teaching Service Commission, Mr Michael Boluwade commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his prompt intervention in the Education Sector , by releasing funds for the procurement of the instructional materials as schools begin the new academic session, saying that the gesture would allow the principals to use their running grants for other pressing needs of their schools.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the State Education Trust Fund, Mrs Bosede Jegede recounted some periods in the past when teachers were buying instructional materials and exercise books from school funds , which she said had become a thing of the past.
She described the Governor Oyebanji as a lover of education, who has done so much in lifting the standard of education in his short time in the saddle.
Mrs Jegede called on the benefitting schools to make judicious use of the items.
In his remarks, the Tutor General for Ekiti South Senatorial District, Mr Olufemi Ogungbayigbe, appreciated the governor for his unparalleled support for the growth of the education industry in the state as well as the visionary leadership style of the Commissioner for Education, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye, under whose supervision the sector has been witnessing unprecedented growth and transformation.
Items distributed included teaching and learning materials , school diaries and registers and other school records.
