The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Services are to spend the sum of ₦2bn on fueling their operational vehicles in 2025, according to the proposed appropriation bill.

President Bola Tinubu, on December 18, presented a ₦47.90tn budget to the National Assembly, naming it the “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace and Rebuilding Prosperity.”

In the proposed budget, a significant ₦4.91tn was earmarked for defence and security, emphasising the administration’s commitment to tackling the nation’s security concerns.

An in-depth analysis of the appropriation bill reveals that the EFCC has allocated ₦808.7m solely for fueling its vehicles, while another ₦462m is earmarked for refreshments and meals for the year.

Similarly, the DSS budgeted ₦1.37bn for vehicle fueling, and the sum of ₦1.4m for procuring tactical counter-terrorism equipment.

Also, the sum of ₦1.4bn was proposed for arms and ammunition procurement, and ₦1.1bn for advanced cybersecurity tools.

In a broader context, the DSS, alongside other agencies under the Office of the National Security Adviser, has allocated ₦960bn in 2025 for maintaining the nation’s defence aircraft and procuring security equipment across various sectors, further reflecting the administration’s focus on fortifying national security.
