President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s strategic emphasis on national values, unity, and social cohesion following a high-level briefing with the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.

The meeting, held at the State House, served as both a performance review and a forward-planning session, reflecting what officials describe as a deliberate governance approach anchored on value reorientation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

During the engagement, Issa-Onilu presented an operational update on the Agency’s activities since assuming office in October 2023. He outlined a series of interventions aimed at recalibrating public consciousness and strengthening civic responsibility—initiatives he said have yielded measurable, if modest, outcomes.

Presidential backing emerged as a central theme in the briefing. According to sources familiar with the meeting, the NOA’s recent progress is closely tied to Tinubu’s policy direction and institutional support, which have enabled the Agency to realign its programmes and broaden its national footprint.

“The trajectory is not accidental,” a senior official noted, pointing to what he described as “clear executive sponsorship” as a catalyst for the Agency’s repositioning.

Beyond retrospective analysis, the session pivoted to future strategy. Issa-Onilu used the opportunity to table the NOA’s proposed programmes for the 2026 fiscal cycle—an ambitious slate of initiatives designed to deepen citizen engagement, reinforce the National Values Charter, and scale up nationwide sensitization campaigns.

The proposals, insiders say, are structured to integrate seamlessly with broader national priorities, with the DG seeking presidential guidance and approval to ensure both policy alignment and resource mobilization.

Observers view the interaction as indicative of a governance model where national orientation is treated not as a peripheral function but as a core driver of policy outcomes. By maintaining direct oversight, the President appears intent on ensuring that institutions tasked with shaping public values remain both accountable and performance-driven.

The meeting underscores a continuity of purpose within the administration—where executive leadership provides the strategic blueprint, and implementing agencies like the NOA are expected to convert that vision into tangible societal impact.
