The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s global image through strategic value reorientation and identity projection.
Represented by Mr. David Akoji, Director, Special Duties/States Operations, the Director General delivered a lecture at the 3 Days induction ceremony for Ambassador-designates held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria. The session focused on the National Identity Project and the National Values Charter, equipping the envoys with critical insights ahead of their postings to various countries.
The engagement underscores the importance of embedding Nigeria’s core values and identity framework within its diplomatic corps, positioning them as key drivers of the country’s image and reputation on the global stage.
This initiative aligns with the approval of the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria mandating that all newly appointed members of the Council, as well as new members of the national and state assemblies and other government appointees, undergo compulsory orientation on Nigerian identity and the National Values Charter prior to assumption of office.
According to the Agency, extending this sensitisation to Ambassador-designates is a strategic component of its global perception management agenda. It is expected to enhance the capacity of Nigeria’s diplomatic representatives to project a consistent, positive national image anchored on shared values, civic responsibility, and national cohesion.
The National Orientation Agency reiterated its resolve to continue engaging key stakeholders across all sectors in promoting the ideals of responsible citizenship and a unified national identity.
