A retired Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Prince Francis Fadahunshi, has charged media practitioners on developmental journalism through objective reportage.

Speaking in Ilase-Ijesa, Osun state while playing host to members of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Osun State Council, who were marking their 2017 Press Week, Fadahunsi stated that journalism remains the last hope of under-privileged Nigerians at present.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain lamented that “the ministry of Injustice has become bigger than Ministry of Justice in Nigeria because common man is being denied justice”.

According to him, the days are far gone, when judiciary was considered as the last hope of the common man, stressing that in terms of affordability and accessibility, journalism remains the only thing that keeps alive the hope of Nigerians.

He also urged journalists to be positive in their reportage for them to contribute to the development of the society, since the profession offers the cheapest way of getting justice through the court of public opinion.

His words: “It is also the profession that determines who gets what how and when in the political space.

“Because injustice is the bane of development and Ministry of injustice is bigger than the Ministry of justice in Nigeria, journalism remains the hope of common man.

“You are making the greatest sacrifice to make our nation better, and I am really surprised the way you guys are surviving in this harsh economy.”
