All the governors of the south west of Nigeria have been urged to give a befitting burial to the deceased entertainer, Apostle Moses Adejumo Baba Sala who died on Sunday in Ilesa, Osun State.

Callers on popular radio stations who were celebrating the deceased king of comedy monitored by PMParrot from Ibadan on Monday and Tuesday were unanimous in their suggestions that Baba Sala should be honoured in death.

While speaking on a popular Splash 105.5 FM Radio station in Ibadan, YS Live on Tuesday, an equally popular contributor, Reverend Koye Ladele urged the governors of Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti States to come together to imortalise the late entertainment icon.

Said Reverend Ladele “I am sure the South West is blessed. We have the Development Agenda For Western Nigeria, DAWN Commission, a platform that can be used to achieve this aim. Baba Sala was honoured with ‘Member of the Order of the Niger’ (MON) award.

“Baba Sala should be seriously celebrated because he was the best in his business. Other governors in the South West should not leave all the arrangements to the home state of the deceased, Osun State.”

Meanwhile, a former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has joined other great Nigerians to pay tribute to Baba Sala, saying with his death, the world had lost a most life-enhancing, brilliant, and creative comedian.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Obasanjo said the late comedian with his unique voice made people happy.

In the tribute entitled, ‘Chief Moses Adejumo, A Worthy Nigerian To Be Remembered ‘Obasanjo said Baba Sala lived to perfect his art and entertain his live and adoring audiences.

He added, “I received the news of the demise of my friend and my brother, Chief Moses Adejumo, popularly called Baba Sala, with shock and yet with a lot of reflection and admiration for someone I knew did his best to make our country, Nigeria, and indeed our world a better place.

“While I have accepted his transition as a course we all must take, I wish and pray that his immediate family, all the people close to him in one way or the other will have the fortitude to bear the loss. My heart and that of my family remain with them.”

Obasanjo recalled that “over the years, I have followed, with very keen interest, Chief Adejumo’s distinguished career as a foremost playwright, filmmaker, musician and comedian. He was a true renaissance man.

“Along with being one of the finest comedy impressionists in the country, he was a talented actor and portrait artist. I recall, with nostalgia, that he served selflessly in the development of Nigeria’s theatre and performing arts.”
