Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s Government in Ogun State has said that it has so far expended a total of N18.615bn, which represents a cumulative performance of over 60% on the construction and provision of roads across the three Senatorial Districts in the State between January and August, 2018.

The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arch Olamilekan Adegbite, who said this while analyzing the budget performance of his Ministry before members of the Committee on Works and Infrastructure led by Hon Akanbi Bankole, attributed the slow pace of the on-going road projects across the State to the present rainy season.

Adegbite said the roads included Sagamu-Benin express junction/ Oba-Erinwole junction road, Ilo-Awela road, OGTV-Brewery junction road, Ilara-Ijohun-Ilase road, Lafenwa-Ayetoro road and Ejirin-Oluwalogbon junction road. Others included Agbara-Atan road, Lusada-Igbesa township road and Lusada- Alapoti road as well as  reconstruction of Ilaro-Owode road amongst others.

He noted that the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration had put in place more infrastructural projects, stating that contractors were being mobilised to site for the construction of semi-urban roads, just as Federal Government had approved the construction of Sokori River concrete channel for flood control in Abeokuta metropolis.

In their separate submissions,  members of the Committee including Julianah Akintayo, Jimi Otukoya,  Victor Fasanya, Akanbi Bankole, Israel Jolaoso, Akinpelu Aina and Olayiwola Ojodu tasked the Ministry to speed up construction works at the various sites across the State, calling for the completion of all ongoing projects before the current administration winds down next year.

The Committee also examined the budget performance of the State Road Maintenance Agency, (OGROMA) Bureau of Electrical Engineering Services and the State Fire Services.
