Politicians Thrown Into Confusion As INEC Moves To Postpone Saturday’s Polls

Politicians in Nigeria have been thrown into confusion as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fine tunes plans to shift the much publicized presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

PMParrot checks have confirmed that politicians, especially those from the platforms of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are presently running round in circles to re-strategize.

This, we gathered is because they are the two parties seriously contending to win the presidential election.

A source informed PMParrot from Lagos that funds that have been earmarked and disbursed to sustain party agents and sort out other electoral logistics will have to be generated again for use anytime a new date for the elections is announced.

News of the move by INEC to postpone the polls started like a rumour early on Friday night. Many did not believe until it was confirmed that  the commission’s boss, Professor Mahmood Yakubu had indeed called an emergency meeting of stakeholders to re-appraise the situation of things in states with logistics’ challenges.

It was gathered that many of the affected states are facing problems of distributing very sensitive materials.

PMParrot was reliably informed by another source in Abuja that Sunday, February 17 is already being considered.

Said our source “Since all the states of the federation are not facing the challenges, INEC should be able to rectify the issues in contention in the affected states under 24 hours. So, Sunday is the most ideal.”
