The Oyo State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has passed a resolution granting the approval of N10 billion loan facility requested by Governor Seyi Makinde.

The loan which will be granted by three financial institutions, according to the letter forwarded to the House by Governor Makinde, is supposed to be used to develop infrastructures in the state.

Hon. Ogundoyin, in the resolution of the House, said that the loan facility will enable the government to address decaying infrastructure and develop new ones.

According to Hon. Ogundoyin, “While we are working on improving our Internal Generated Revenue by restoring the state owned industries and properties, we have to look at other means where we can get needed resources to complete the ongoing projects and improve our infrastructures.

“As lawmakers, we have taken many steps towards this request. We had several meetings with the Ministry of Finance, the concerned banks and also financial consultants across the state.

“These meetings were fruitful and we can say boldly that the consultations have proven that the loan request is for the good of the people of Oyo State.

“Then as the representative of the people, our next duty is to monitor the spending of the loan, its allocation to ministries and the projects intended to be executed with the fund.”

Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly has urged the committee set up to look into cases of civil servants allegedly wrongfully dismissed by the past administration to be thorough.

In a motion presented before the House by the Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin on the “Need to Commend Governor Seyi Makinde for Steps Taken to Review Cases of Wrongfully Dismissed and Laid Off Public/Civil Servants,” disclosed that the step taken by the governor to set up a committee to look into these cases is a welcome development and called for commendation.

He expressed that the committee is to look into the remote and immediate circumstances surrounded the allege dismissal and forceful retirement and make appropriate recommendations to the governor.
