2027 Polls: Obafemi Hamzat Identifies How APC Can Win

For President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be re-elected and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the Lagos State gubernatorial poll, party members must aggressively mobilise with utmost dedication and loyalty, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat said on Sunday.

He advised prospective voters to mobilise at least five others and ensure they vote for the party on election day.

Hamzat said: “It is important that we must come out to vote,” adding that “we must deliver Nigeria to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu next year.” he deputy governor spoke at the ‘Special Congregational Prayer for President Tinubu’ organised by the Renewed Hope Network at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.

The prayer session was officiated by the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Stephen Adegbite, and a Muslim cleric, Alhaji Abdulrahman Lawal.

Prayers were offered for President Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Hamzat, and the peace of Nigeria and Lagos.

At the event, which was attended by members of the Lagos State progressive family, unions, ethnic nationalities, youths, and women groups, President Tinubu was endorsed for re-election, and Hamzat was endorsed for governor.

Speakers, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Oyinlomo Danmole, leader of the group, House of Representatives member James Faleke, the convener, former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, justified Tinubu’s endorsement by highlighting his achievements across all sectors.

They also noted that the Lagos APC is in one accord on the endorsement of Hamzat as Sanwo-Olu’s successor.

Hamzat, who thanked the congregation, observed that Sanwo-Olu has laid a good foundation in Lagos, adding that “it will be easy to build on it.”

Hailing the endorsement of the president, he said: “Our father must continue the job he is doing to save Nigeria.”

Hamzat, who thanked President Tinubu for giving direction to the country and the first lady for her philanthropic activities, prayed that by the grace of God, the children of all those who witnessed the event will fulfil their destinies in life.

Sanwo-Olu, who led the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) members to the podium on behalf of the nonagenarian Prince Oluyole Olusi, said: “On behalf of all the leaders of GAC, we endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.”

Bello, the former Kogi governor, applauded President Tinubu, recalling that he played a role in his ascension to power in the Confluence State.

He also thanked him for the political opportunities given to Kogites in Lagos, including Faleke. Bello, a senatorial aspirant in Kogi Central, said: “Mr. President, you cannot be tired. Continue to provide leadership for the younger generation. You have paid your dues in activism and leadership. You don’t need to come to Kogi to campaign. We assure you of 100 per cent of our votes.”

On the deputy governor, he said: “Hamzat is loyal, intelligent, dedicated, and patient. He is being elected unopposed. We will also emulate that in Kogi.”

Obasa, who described Hamzat as a loyal and formidable candidate, urged party faithful to begin mobilisation by reaching out to Lagosians across the state.

Faleke, who conducted the endorsements, said: “If each of us can bring two voters on poll day, all will be okay.”

He added: “Today is a unified gathering. President Tinubu has done well in the last three years, laying the foundation for economic and infrastructural development. Look at the support base.

“Those outside (TBS) are more than those inside. Lagos is APC and by the grace of God, it will remain APC. Don’t listen to the container economist who is moving from one party to the other. He is telling lies.”

At the prayer session were Pa Olusi, Pa Adeseye Ogunlewe, Pa Akanni Seriki-Bamu, Pa Rabiu Oluwa, Pa Yahaya Dosunmu, Pa Alabi Macfoy, Pa Tony Adefuye, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Pa James Odunmbaku, Pa Henry Ajomale, Senators Musiliu Obanikoro, Gbenga Ashafa, Ganiyu Solomon, and Olorunnimbe Mamora; Joko Pelumi, Princess Sarah Sosan, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Mrs. Remi Hamzat, Housing Commissioner Moroof Akinderu-Fatai, Mrs. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, and Retired DIG Hakeem Odumosu.

Others included Moshood Mayegun, Saidat Eletu, Abdullahi Enilolobo, road transport union leader Mustapha Sagoe, Idris Aregbe, Seyi Jakande, Sadiat Bada, Motunrayo Alogba, Bayo Balogun, Hakeem Muniru, Lanre Oshun, Denge Anifowose, Abiodun Mafe, Rasak Ajala, and ace musician Wasiu Ayinde.
