Oyo State’s Deputy Governor-Elect, Engr Rauf Olaniyan, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji as well as popular musician, Saheed Osupa and others were present when the Oyo State Judiciary Muslims Community held its annual Ramadan Lecture in Ibadan on Saturday.

At the event, a prominent Islamic scholar, Sheik Uthman Sannu Sheu identified lying, as the major factor responsible for the ‘festering’ of corruption in Nigeria.

He expressed that nobody, irrespective of his or her caliber involved in corruption will not go scot free from the wrath of Almighty Allah on the Day of Judgment.

Sheik Sannu Sheu disclosed this while delivering his lectured with the topic ‘Corruption: Causes, Effect and Way Out’ held at High Court of Justice, Ring Road.

The guest lecturer noted that the future of Nigeria will remain uncertain because the ruled and the rulers have inculcated habit of lying as part of cultural and value system with the purpose of acquiring material wealth for personal use.

Sheik Uthman Sannu Sheu revealed that if the people – both at the top and lower hierarchies of government, ruled and the rulers, rich and the poor can do away with lying, other crimes such as corruption, stealing, fornication, killing among others will be reduced to the barest minimum.
