As part of the strategy towards a successful Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup play-off campaign against Ghana, the Super Eagles coaching duo of Augustine Eguavoen and Emmanuel Amuneke has been holding court with the top echelon of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) as well as national team players in London.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the Black Stars on March 24 at the Cape Coast Stadium in what would be the 58th encounter between the two West African football giants while the return leg of the encounter will hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on March 29.
Our correspondent gathered that the meeting in London offered both Eguavoen who doubled head of NFF’s technical department as well as the interim technical adviser of the Super Eagles and the team’s chief coach Amuneke, the opportunity to compare notes towards the decisive match in March.
“It’s true both Eguavoen and Amuneke are in London to fine-tune plans for the all-important match against the Black Stars of Ghana,” a decent source told NationSport.“ Apart from the two holding sessions with the leadership of the NFF, the meeting in London was an opportunity for them to hold briefs with some of the England-based players.
“I know they have met the Leicester City trio of Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman who was just cleared last week by FIFA to play for Nigeria and I know they would meet with several other players too before leaving London, “the source added.
Incidentally, both the Super Eagles and Black Stars camps are leaving nothing to chance ahead of this play-off in March with Ghana’s coach Otto Addo reportedly also in London at the weekend to parley with some of his backroom staff and England-based Ghanaian internationals.
