The immediate past Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) in Oyo State, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, has commiserated with family, indigenes of Ibadan, Council of Obas and Oyo State government over the passage of the Olubadan of Ibadan land,Oba His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

In a statement made available to journalists through his media office, Abass-Aleshinloye said that the death of the first class traditional ruler was painful and described it as an irreparable loss.

The ex-ALGON leader described the late Olubadan as a highly respected traditional ruler, who committed to the growth and development of his people and Nigeria as he deployed his influence to foster peace and attract development within and outside his domain.

Alesinloye disclosed that Oba Balogun will be remembered as an epitome of courage, a patriotic, humane, and upright leader and true elder statesman, who gave his very best to his fatherland.

“He was a courageous man who protected the dignity of the Olubadan stool and ensured that the traditional institution of the country was well respected and honoured.”

The former ALGON boss further stated that Ibadan would sorely miss Oba Balogun, who he said lived a fulfilled life and will be remembered as a peace loving monarch that served his people selflessly until his glorious exit.

“His Imperial Majesty will be remembered as an epitome of courage, a patriotic, humane, and upright leader and true elder statesman, who gave his very best to his fatherland.

“As mortals we never want our elderly ones to die, but the Holy Books say that all souls must taste death. So, we have to submit to the supreme will of the Almighty from whom we came and unto whom we shall all return,” Abass-Alesinloye said.

He urged the children and the entire family of the late Olubadan to be consoled by the fact that the late first class monarch lived a good life, imparted lives and left legacies of a good name and honour.

“I pray that God would repose the soul of the departed monarch and comfort the family and the people of Ibadan land,” he added.
